Honoring Houston’s Military Mothers Who Serve in Every Way
It’s Mother’s Day, and we celebrate the strength, love, and resilience of mothers everywhere, but today, we want to honor our military mothers.
Veterans, servicemembers who are mothers… but also our spouses and parents who have stuck around to tend to our homefront and precious families.
To the military mothers who show up every day for their families, their communities, and their fellow veterans. This day is for you.
You Served Twice: In Uniform and at Home
Being a mom is a full-time mission. So is serving your country. For many women in the Houston veteran community, you’ve done both with courage, sacrifice, and an unshakable commitment to others.
To veteran mothers, you’ve:
Balanced deployments with bedtime stories.
Traded rucksacks for diaper bags (and sometimes back again).
Fought for your country and still found the strength to lead your family through life’s battles.
To military spouses and mothers, you’ve:
Endured the most difficult task of rearing our children while we went out on mission.
Helped other spouses in our units as a larger military family.
To the parents of our service members and veterans, you’ve:
Entrusted us, the nation’s brightest to take care of your child.
Brought up a proud young servicemember who volunteered to serve our nation.
You may not always hear it, but your service, in every form, matters.

To Every Veteran Mom: You Deserve to Be Celebrated
You’ve given your country your strength. You’ve given your family your heart. You’ve raised children while carrying the weight of service, sacrifice, and sometimes, silent struggle.
Today, we celebrate you, not just as mothers, but as veterans. As leaders. As warriors. As women who continue to serve, long after the uniform is folded away.
From all of us here in the Houston veteran community: Happy Mother’s Day, and thank you for everything you do.
