Wills vs. Trusts: Helping Veterans Protect What Matters Most
WILLS VS TRUSTS
(and why you need to know the difference)
Wills vs. Trusts: Helping Veterans Protect What Matters Most
Planning for the future isn't always an easy conversation, but it's one of the most important gifts you can leave for your family.
Whether you're a Veteran just beginning to think about estate planning or you've been meaning to update your existing documents, understanding the difference between a will and a trust can help you make informed decisions that protect your loved ones and provide peace of mind.
Estate planning isn't only about what happens after you're gone. It's also about making sure your wishes are honored if you become unable to make decisions for yourself. Having the right legal documents in place can help reduce stress, avoid unnecessary complications, and make difficult times a little easier for the people you care about most.
We would like to answer YOUR legal questions that you would have on estate planning and whether you should consider putting together a trust or a will. We will answer your questions at the event.
The Harris County Veteran Services Department invites Veterans, surviving spouses, and family members to attend our Wills vs. Trusts Seminar on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Steve Radack Community Center, located at 18650 Clay Road, Houston, TX.
During this seminar, attendees will learn the key differences between wills and trusts, including the advantages and disadvantages of each. While both are valuable estate planning tools, they serve different purposes depending on your financial situation, family needs, and long-term goals. Understanding these differences can help you determine which option best fits your circumstances.
This seminar is designed for every Veteran, regardless of age or stage of life. Estate planning isn't just for retirement, it's about protecting your family, preserving your wishes, and preparing for the unexpected. Surviving spouses and adult children are also encouraged to attend, as these conversations often involve the entire family.
To ensure we have time to address the topics most important to attendees, we ask that all questions be submitted no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
Taking a few hours today to learn about your options can save your family countless hours of uncertainty in the future. We hope you'll join us as we discuss practical estate planning tools that can help provide security and peace of mind for those you love.
